APPROXIMATELY 400 litres of diesel was stolen from three machines at the development site of the new Fire Station in Kilbarry.

The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 5pm on Thursday and 8am on Friday last.

According to Waterford Garda Station theft of diesel and materials from building sites has been on the increase with the past number of weeks.

GardaĆ­ are urging all site managers to take extra precautions to prevent this type of crime occurring.

Meanwhile, building materials and diesel was stolen overnight from a site at Williamstown Road. This incident occurred between 6pm on Wednesday and 9am on Thursday.

Separately, a white 2003 Waterford van with three men inside was seen driving into a building site at the North Warf. Copper piping and a copper tank were stolen during the incident which occurred on Wednesday afternoon between 12pm and 1pm.

Several burglaries also occurred last week including one at St Killians Place, Ferrybank. A house was entered by forcing front door with implement. A small amount of cash was taken.

Between 8.30pm on Wednesday and 3.30pm on Thursday an apartment that was empty overnight at Manor Village was broken into.

The homeowner returned to find a Samsung laptop and iPhone 3 were taken.

Between 11.20am and 12.30pm on Friday a Nikon D800 camera with Sigma Lens and Samsung Galaxy phone were taken from front passenger seat of a car parked at Butlerstown Retail Park.
